Set in the early 1950's, Father of the Bride tells the story of a man trying to cope with all of the disasters that happen along the way from the time that his daughter announces that she's engaged until the wedding actually occurs.

about the director

Leona has been involved with theater in the Springfield area for around 30 years, including Springfield Muni, West Side Christian Church Drama Department, Springfield Theater Center, and New Salem’s Theatre in the Park. Before retiring from teaching music at Greenview School District, she directed a number of plays and musicals for their high school and middle school.

She directed the TIP musical “Two by Two” several years ago and has accompanied a number of musicals in Springfield and Petersburg theater, as well as appeared on stage. Her favorite stage roles were Hannah Armstrong in “Distant Thunder” and Bertha in “Pippin.”

Leona has two married children and 3 grandsons. Her handyman husband, Dave, is renovating their 1870’s Victorian home in Petersburg. Leona became a vegan several years ago and holds nutrition seminars. She is a member of the Menard County University Women’s Club, Petersburg Chamber of Commerce, Menard County Historic Society, Petersburg Woman’s Club, Springfield Vegetarian Association, Historic Marbold Farmstead Association and is an Edgar Lee Masters Museum volunteer.
