Prairie Voices: is a collection of poems and songs that celebrate the beauty of the Illinois Prairie. Poems by Edgar Lee Masters, Vachel Lindsay and Carl Sandburg are featured, along with music all performed by Aasne Vigesaa and Kevin Purcell.
Lincoln and Shakespeare: Abraham Lincoln started reading Shakespeare when he was very young and was often heard reciting bits of the bard to friends and colleagues throughout his illustrious career. This theater piece, created and directed by Kevin Purcell of Over the Moon Productions, combines Lincolns' words with scenes from several of Shakespeare's plays that may have inspired him. Cast includes Aasne Vigessa, Ben Beams, Linda Schneider, Jonah Walker, August Roy, Joey Cruse and Fritz Klein.
TIP audiences will remember Kevins’ production of Romeo and Juliet this past season; he also created and directed Shakespeare Shorts in 2009. As an actor, TIP audiences may recall him as El Gallo in The Fantasticks in 1999 and Bottom in A Midsummer Nights Dream in 2002. He has been an actor/director for the past 37 years and was co-founder of Seattle Public Theater. Last fall Kevin’s unique production of The Yellow Wallpaper (starring the amazing Aasne Vigesaa) was seen at the Vachel Lindsay Home; where on Oct 8, the DVD of this production was released. Kevin is a founding member of Over the Moon Productions. Kevin and his wife Lucia live in Petersburg.
