"Two by Two"

Richard Rodgers entered his seventh decade of writing for the theatre with this fresh retelling of the Biblical story of Noah. It seems that the building of the ark was only the first of Noah's many daunting challenges in a journey that wasn't always smooth sailing. By turns inspirational and hilarious, we discover that being chosen by God for great things does not necessarily simplify the daily demands made of a father and husband. It's good fun from The Good Book and when the land has dried, man and beast alike are invited to go forth and prosper in a bright New World.

Directed by Leona Edwards: Leona has been involved with theater in the Springfield area for around 30 years, including Springfield Muni, West Side Christian Church Drama Department, Springfield Theater Center, and New Salem’s Theatre in the Park. Before retiring from teaching music at Greenview School District, she directed a number of plays and musicals for their high school and middle school.

She has accompanied a number of musicals in Springfield and Petersburg theater, as well as appeared on stage. Her favorite stage roles were Hannah Armstrong in “Distant Thunder,” the Witch in “Lion, Witch and Wardrobe,” Mrs. Gibbs in “Our Town,” Luella in “The Diviners,” and Bertha in “Pippin.”

Leona has two married children and 3 grandsons. Her handyman husband, Dave, is renovating their 1870’s Victorian home in Petersburg. Leona became a vegan several years ago, holds nutrition seminars and vegan food preparation classes. She is a member of the Menard County University Women’s Club, Petersburg Chamber of Commerce, Menard County Historic Society, Petersburg Woman’s Club, Springfield Vegetarian Association and is an Edgar Lee Masters Museum volunteer.
